Trick or Treat

October 28, 2008

There are many alternatives to neighborhood trick or treating with your kids this Halloween.

The weather has been chilly this week and if the temperature is still frosty on October 31st, head inside to local malls for indoor trick or treating at the stores. Chesterfield, West County, South County Center, St. Clair Square and Mid Rivers Mall are all offering treats for your costumed kids age 12 and under from 5-7pm on Halloween.

Some local churches and schools are hosting "trunk or treat" parties where trick or treaters can go from car to car in a safe, well-lit parking lot. Trunk or treating is like a kid's tailgating party where parked cars are decorated and playing music. The area is usually roped off so kids can run around and sometimes includes bounce houses and games.

How about a Halloween Parade? Alton, Illinois is rumored to have haunted mansions and other spooky sites that celebrate the season. It culminates at 7:30 at the corner of Washington and Broadway with decorated floats, bands with costumes galore.

Wherever you decide to take your trick or treaters, have a safe and happy Halloween!
